Young, Earnest, and in Love With : The mix
Mix thesis: We dance, we love, we are young.
1. "This Charming Man" Cover by Death Cab for Cutie - now of course I love my Smiths, and many friends would not hesitate to club me for not having the realz version on this, but I just like it so damned much. On the one hand, part of me feels that Moz is so aloof that he doesn't even believe himself being aloof. Since this mix is so EARNEST, Ben rules out over Moz, because I think it is fair to say that in the SAT's of indie rock, Moz: aloof as Ben Gibbard: earnest. Look it up.
2. "Blood: the Song" - The Pink Cammies: Though I may embarass some friends involved with this band by saying this, I have no better and happier memories than seeing all of my friends come together to dance to these songs.
3. "Over and Over" - Hot Chip: Dance!
4. "Rapture Rapes the Muses" - Of Montreal: Dance!
5. "Pillar of Salt" - The Thermals: Sing!
6. "Alive with the Glory of Love" - Say Anything: Sing!
7. " Love Will Tear us Apart" - Joy Division: Become grandiose!
8. "On Our Way" - The Double: Steady uphill followed by coming over the top and being able to see for miles. Listen to this at night when walking up a hill (in Geneseo). If you can't track the song down, let me know.
9. "Soft and Warm" - Voxtrot: 'splains itself
10. "I'll Believe in Anything" - Wolf Parade: 'splains itself. I'll believe in anything.
I feel good about this and will mail out copies upon request.

2 Comments:

so good.
Stars does a cover of "This Charming Man" that isn't half bad as well.
