TA GUELE-UHHHHH!

Well not really, but indeed one of my favorite things to say, and indeed a favorite moment from L'auberge espagnol WHICH IS A RELEVANT SEGUEWAY as i spent the weekend in Barcelona seeing some o the things that our protagonist of said film indeed got to see.

It's a fuckin' nice city mes amis, and like everyone else coming back from there, i couldn't shut up about how i was absolutely overwhelmed by all things Gaudi and thus architecturally tim burtonesque. I can't say anything about Gaudi except go to Barcelona to see for yonselves, because it's truly amazing. i'm sufferin' right now as a result of tensing up all the muscles in my legs a cause de mon vertige (chick's afraid of heights; perhaps a little known fact, but when heights present themselves it is OH SO APPARENT) while spiralling down the towers of the Sagrada Familia. I also saw Parc Guell and the Casa Batio, equally enthralled by their respective weirdness.

I SHOULD NOTE, for those following along with their foriegn language dictionaries, that only as a result of laziness do i omit the proper accents in french, spanish, and all following permutations of the fifty goddamn romance languages that encircle this continent and that i've found myself apprendre-ing. they really do lie when they say that there are about five that come from latin, french, spanish, italian, portuguese and romanian, because next to these are about a fucking billion inbetween permutations, like your catalan, occitan, provencal etc and the people who speak em ain't about to let go.

and all catalonianness was interesting as well.

SPEAKING har har o languages, spain was also a fine exercise in reminding me that i dunn know shit, as my minimal knowledge of french was reduced to even less importance having been supplanted by my non knowing of spanish. jesus or HAY ZUSS as our neighbors to the east might say. BUT it does make me feel good about my french conversational abilties as i think i've learned enough to carry a conversation pertinent to this culture i've been mothereffing IMMERSED IN AS A PART OF MY STUDY ABROAD EXPERIENCE over the past three months. i can ask why the fuck a train is stopped and then complain when realizing it's cos the workers went on strike. i can commande cheese in all their various shapes, sizes and indeed smells when necessary. and i can parle bien about monsieur le BOOSH and how he, and generally all political leaders are fuckups. 'scuse please, LES fuck ups.

jumbled and messy thoughts? indeed! but that ain't never stopped me before. in addition, i'se four weeks away from coming home which makes me crinkle my forehead for lack of proper emoting abilities more than anything.

additively, i ran into emily drake in spain, in barcelona as she was escaping her senora for the weekend and we happened to be staying at the same hostel, and you know, europe is just such a small fucking place that i'm surprised that two geneseo kids weren't able to happen upon each other sooner. i probably would've already run into our favorite red headed friend to the north if he hadn't fully assimiliated into norwege culture and i hear, is now running with a pack of reindeer or something like that.

I'm going to beat the road construction bots to the punch with this comment: my moped is working at pretty close to full power. have you done any motorvelociped riding with the bretons or catalunians? even if not there's always winter in Geneseo.

also I heard back from the people in Novi Sad and they're offering courses as late as March/April then til Summer....still paralyzed in the brain the way I do. have a happy un-American thanksgiving, by the way.

hey Angela. Your blog is great. Sounds like you are doing well in FR. I should have sent you to spy on my little sister who is in Barcelona doing god knows what. That movie L'auberge espagnol (sp?) is great isn't it - I loved it. If you are doing things that remind you of that movie then you are doing things right. Ok gtg - steal me some scooter parts if you see any around.
